The highest prices you can pay for everyday commodities

New York is home to some of the country's richest people, and there's no shortage of ways to spend those fortunes.

A finance big-wig recently dropped $80,000 for a parking spot in Park Slope, an area where the luxury of a regular spot to put your car is increasingly vanishing, DNAinfo.com reported.

The spot is a long shot from the city's priciest - a $1 million parking space went on the market last year - but it was a quick reminder that even the most mundane commodities in the city can command exorbitant prices.

Here are some of the most outrageous prices you can pay for everyday products and services around the city:

Burger: The world's most expensive burger is sold at Serendipity 3 for $295: Le Burger Extravagant. With a patty of Japanese Waygu beef, the burger is loaded with 10-herb white-truffle butter, fried quail eggs, aged cheddar cheese, black truffles and more, all served on a white truffle-buttered Campagna Roll topped with caviar. And here's the kicker: it comes with toothpick encrusted with gold and diamonds.

Apartment: The Penthouse at the Pierre Hotel commands a whopping $125 million asking price, with an equally staggering $42,000 monthly maintenance fee. But for the price you're getting an incredible setup: 16 grand rooms, five master bedrooms, a ball room, six full bathrooms and three half-baths, five fireplaces, a private elevator, four terraces and more.

Haircut: Star power demands higher prices, and such is the case with "What Not To Wear" hair stylist Ted Gibson, who charges $1,250 for a haircut. Haircuts with the rest of his staff are a more reasonable $75 to $200, but you'll have to shell out big bucks for Gibson himself.

Gym membership: Run by star star trainer David Kirsch,memberships at the Madison Square Club can cost up to $26,000 per year plusvarious fees. Members have included Heidi Klum, Liv Tyler and Ivana Trump, the gym comes with access to state-of-the-art equipment, a full juice bar, laundry services and much more.

Sports ticket: Courtside seats for Knicks games, which sell for up to $3,600, account for the most expensive face-value sports tickets in the five boroughs. Not only does that price put you close to the action at Madison Square Garden, it also buys you a chance to get a high-five from Spike Lee.

Dessert: In addition to serving up the city's most expensive burgers, Serendipity 3 also is home to the world's most expensive dessert. In 2007, the Upper East Side restaurant unveiled a $25,000 "Frrozen Haute Chocolate," a blend of 28 cocoas - including some of the world's most exotic kinds. The dessert also is infused with 5 grams of edible 23-karat gold.

Parking spot: Though an $80,000 spot was just sold, last year a $1 million spot near 11th Street and University Place went on the market, the first space in the city to breach the million-dollar threshold.

Cocktail: Uncorked Wine and Tapas on the Upper East Side serves a $10,000 martini made with Grey Goose vodka, fresh lime juice - and, oh yeah, a one-carat diamond engagement ring. Ordering the Diamond is Forever Martini requires 72-hour advance notice with Uncorked's co-owner, who also happens to be a jewelry designer.

Hotel suite: The nine-room Ty Warner Penthouse Suite encompasses the entire top floor of the famed Four Seasons Hotel, offering a 360-degree view of the Manhattan skyline. It comes with a personal butler, trainer and chauffeur. The nightly cost? $41,836 per night, according to a 2012 article on CNN.com.

Facial treatment: Does any spa treatment sound more luxurious than a white caviar illuminating facial? La Prairie Spa at the Ritz-Carlton offers the 90-minute treatment, which also includes at-home products, for $1,000.
