'The Princess Bride' is coming to Broadway
It looks as if Miracle Max might have performed one of his trademark miracles.
Disney Theatrical Productions announced Monday that "The Princess Bride," the popular 1987 movie from director Rob Reiner, based on the book by William Goldman, will be turned into a stage production, though there is no word yet if it will be a play or a musical.
"I am thrilled that the next chapter in the life of 'The Princess Bride' will unfold on the stage," Goldman said in a statement. "With ... Disney Theatrical Productions leading the way, Buttercup, Westley and all of Florin are in the best of hands."
The film starred Cary Elwes and Robin Wright as romantic leads in a fantastical adventure with pirates, rodents of unusual size, a giant and, of course, true love. Broadway veterans Wallace Shawn and Mandy Patinkin had supporting roles.
