Even though the summer season is simmering to a close, there are still plenty of opportunities to catch the last waves of summertide feasting. Head out to destinations like the Rockaways and East Village restaurant Back Forty for fantastic crab boils, or Brooklyn’s Red Hook Lobster Pound for fresh picked lobster meals. End your summer with the endlessly enticing flavors that these places offer.

Saturday Crab Boils at the Rockaways

On August 31, Back Forty is hosting its last shore side crab boil at the Low Tide Bar on the Rockaway Beach Boardwalk. This East Coast crab fest starts at 3 p.m. and will be accompanied by plenty of beer and drinks at the bar, and by musical guest The Supertones on the 31st. For $25, guests can dine on a bucket of spiced blue crabs with corn on the cob and steamed potatoes.

Crabapalooza at Back Forty

Back Forty continues its crab boil fete at its East Village restaurant, finishing up the summer with a five-day boil from Aug. 27-30 (6:30-10 p.m.) and Aug. 30 (noon to 5 p.m.). For $45, guests dine on a heaping pile of spiced crabs with sides like stone-ground cornbread, corn on the cob, boiled potatoes and string beans, and end their meal with fruit cobbler. Wednesday Lobster Dinners at Red Hook Lobster Pound

If you haven’t yet had a taste of the delectable and summer classic, the lobster, have it now. Visit the Red Hook Lobster Pound on Wednesdays for their summer-long lobster dinner special — a 1 ½-pound fresh catch Maine lobster, homemade coleslaw, potato salad and fresh corn for $20. And never forget the Pound’s famous rolls, served cold with mayo, celery and spices, or Connecticut-style (served warm with butter and smoked paprika), for $16. Other options like the “Tuscan” with basil vinaigrette, $16, or the “Lobster BLT” with chipotle mayo, $18 are equally tasty.

Monday Naragansett Beer Dinners at Perilla

Ending in late September, Greenwich Village’s neighborhood gem Perilla will be hosting prix fixe three-course beer dinners ($55 per person). The menu features refreshing seasonal dishes and ingredients, such as pickled asparagus and Johnny cakes, fried clams and a spicy radicchio slaw with garlic dill relish and Aleppo aioli. Dessert items include coffee ice cream floats and waffle cone cookies, and the beer selection features the Naragansett cream and summer ales, straight outta the Ocean State (Rhode Island).

Tuesday Clambakes at Philip Marie

No New England summer is complete without a full-on seafood bake. The West Village’s Philip Marie, whose owner and executive chef John P. Greco III has worked at renowned establishments such as Le Cirque and Cipriani’s Harry’s Bar in Venice, Italy, serves New American cuisine, and holds clambakes every Tuesday. For $19.95, each guest can feast on cockles, mussels, shrimp, a ½-pound lobster, fresh corn on the cob and a baked potato.
