With Rep. Anthony Weiner’s mayoral hopes all but officially quashed, former city comptroller Bill Thompson filed papers over the weekend to formally join the 2013 race.
Thompson, who narrowly lost to Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2009, registered with the city’s Campaign Finance Board as a mayoral candidate on Friday.
The 57-year-old Democratic is the only person to officially declare his candidacy.
