Tom Cruise visits Suri for first time since divorce from Katie Holmes

Tom Cruise visited his daughter Suri Tuesday for the first time since he and Katie Holmes announced the settlement for their high-profile divorce on July 9.

Cruise, 50, was photographed carrying his 6-year-old daughter into his Manhattan hotel Tuesday after flying overnight from California, where he finished shooting the movie "Oblivion" on Sunday, according to People. The magazine said the two plan to spend several days together in New York City.

Meanwhile, at about 9:30 p.m. Monday, a Mercedes-Benz Holmes and Suri were riding in was hit by a city sanitation truck. Neither was hurt and no criminal charges were expected, authorities said.

Holmes and Suri were also in a car accident last Friday when they were hit by a paparazzo's vehicle as the two were returning home from a trip to FAO Schwarz, People said.

The whole family was last seen publicly together June 16, eating dinner in Iceland, where Cruise had been shooting "Oblivion" on location. He was still filming in that North Atlantic island nation when Holmes, 33, filed for divorce in New York on June 28.
