With the final installment of everyone’s favorite magical series coming to a close in July with “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2,” fans are surely looking for any way possible to expand their time with the franchise.
Look no further than right here in the city. “Harry Potter: The Exhibition” is running at Discovery Times Square, where you can get a behind-the-scenes look at the Potter films.

Kreacher
The grumpy house elf is a pretty impressive sight to see in person. While the character was rendered using computer animation in the film, the filmmakers created an intricate model of the creature, which is lurking in the midst of some of the more sinister costumes. And he’s not the only elf in the exhibit: Keep an eye out toward the end, where you can also see the more friendly elf Dobby hiding behind some robes.
Hagrid’s Hut
One of the real highlights of the exhibition is seeing the beloved groundskeeper’s hut, complete with a supersized chair that visitors can sit in and a mannequin with Hagrid’s clothes, which show just how big the giant is.
Harry and Ron’s dorm
This very familiar setting is re-created in full. In addition to Ron and Harry’s canopied beds, the room is chock-full of trinkets, including the ornate golden egg from “The Goblet of Fire” and some more wardrobe pieces. Be sure to check out Ron’s sweater — it’s the one with the embarrassingly large “R” on it.
Hogwarts Express
The engine from the Hogwarts Express, positioned as it is at the beginning of the exhibit, is easy to overlook. But this giant locomotive is pretty darn cool, so take a second to give it some love.
Quidditch room and game
While there aren’t too many interactive parts of the exhibit, one of the crowd pleasers is the Quidditch game — imagine one of the basketball games you’ve seen in arcades with the hoops turned 90 degrees. After you’re done playing, check out the selection of brooms, balls, uniforms and other items.
