Top college bowl games
New Year’s Day has always been a day for college football, and this year is no different. Plenty of good watching, but here's three bowl games you definitely shouldn't miss.
ROSE BOWL
TCU (12-0) vs. Wisconsin (11-1): Great matchup between the third-ranked Horned Frogs and their top-ranked defense and fourth-ranked Badgers and an offense that topped the 70-point mark three times. TCU, in its first Rose Bowl, wants to prove it deserved to be in the BCS Championship game.
OUTBACK BOWL
Florida (7-5) vs. Penn State (7-5): It’s the final game for one of the coaches, but if you’re guessing 84-year-old Joe Paterno, you’d be wrong. Urban Meyer steps down for family and health reasons after this. Penn State, 3-0 in Outback Bowl play, tries to become the first
school with four wins.
CAPITAL ONE BOWL
Alabama (9-3) vs. Michigan State (11-1): On paper, it’s a fairly even matchup. But Nick Saban’s Alabama squad has the edge when it comes to winning the big one, having won the 2009 National Championship while the Spartans have lost their last four bowl appearances.
