The all-clear has been given after all trains were held at Penn Station on Thursday night because of a suspicious package, the Long Island Rail Road said.

LIRR officials said a backpack was left on a Ronkonkoma train on Track 15 at Penn, and was found by Metropolitan Transportation Authority police about 10 p.m. An MTA K9 officer detected something suspicious, LIRR officials said, and the NYPD bomb squad was called in to investigate.

Trains began running into and out of Penn just after 11 p.m., after being stopped in all directions for about an hour, the LIRR said, adding there would be residual delays.
