A Sanford, Florida television station reported yesterday that Trayvon Martin had injuries to his knuckles, possibly bolstering neighborhood vigilante George Zimmerman's contention that he killed the 17-year-old in self defense.

WFTV cited the two injuries on Martin's body as a fatal gunshot wound and broken skin on his knuckles. A legal analyst for the station, Bill Sheaffer, noted the revelations could also interpreted as consistent with the Martin's family contention that the teen was murdered while "trying to get away or defend himself."

A medical examination was made public Tuesday indicating that the day after Martin was killed on Feb. 26, Zimmerman's family doctor diagnosed him as having a broken nose, two black eyes and two head lacerations.
