Donald Trump hit the morning news shows Monday to attack state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who filed a $40-million suit against him over the weekend.

Schneiderman contends that Trump University, the real estate mogul's education and seminar program, defrauded thousands of customers.

Trump called in to "Fox & Friends" and NBC's "Today" show to tell the world he's ready to take the attorney general head-on.

"He's a political hack. He figures by going after Trump he can get some publicity, which he will get, but we'll try and make it as uncomfortable as possible," he said on the Fox News program.

Trump told the "Today" show that Schneiderman allegedly tried to ask him for campaign contributions. He said this was all a political ploy.

The attorney general appeared on MSNBC's "Jansing and Co." and dismissed Trump's claims.

Schneiderman said his office received dozens of complaints from people who paid anywhere from $1,500 for the three-day seminar to $10,000 for a "Trump Elite" package, but received poor real estate lessons and didn't gain any insight.

"This was not a university. People were not taught real estate secrets. It was a fraud," Schneiderman said.

Trump, who called the attorney general a "lightweight," said the program has had several success stories.
