TV Review: 'The Michael J. Fox Show' -- 2 stars

Beloved Michael J. Fox got a bad deal in life with Parkinson’s disease, and it took him away from the public eye for a little bit. But then he returned in some guest spots, which landed him an Emmy and some nominations, on shows like “Rescue Me,” “Boston Legal” and “The Good Wife.”

Now, with his disease more manageable, he’s returning to a regular gig as the lead on “The Michael J. Fox Show” where — in a case of art imitating life — he plays New York City news anchor Mike Henry, who gets Parkinson’s disease, leaves his job, and then comes back years later when his disease is more manageable.

Yes, it’s a feel-good story. But, no, it’s not a good show.

Remove Fox from this equation and you have a completely generic show about a father going back to work and the family that wants him out of the house. That’s the kind of setup you’d expect.
