Police yesterday questioned and released a city firefighter whose SUV struck and killed a Brooklyn man in a hit-and-run.
It was unclear whether firefighter Pat Quagliariello was behind the wheel of his dark-colored BMW SUV when it slammed into Manuel Tzajguachiac, 25, at the corner of 65th Street and 20th Avenue in Bensonhurst and raced off.
Quagliariello turned himself in to the 62nd Precinct to identify the vehicle involved in the death, which was found hours after the incident, authorities said. He was released without being charged.
Quagliariello, who published reports said is the brother of a city cop, is not a suspect, though he is involved in the investigation, police said.
The SUV, meanwhile, is in police possession, where it is being tested to determine who was driving at the time of the incident.
The victim, Tzajguachiac, 25, was struck around 12:30 a.m. yesterday when he went for a walk. He was taken to Lutheran Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
