Usain bolts to 2nd straight Olympic gold

Usain Bolt broke his own Olympic record Sunday, running a 9.63 to take gold in a blazingly fast 100 meter dash.

Seven of the eight runners broke the 10-second barrier, with Bolt's Jamaican teammate Yohan Blake taking silver in 9.75 and American Justin Gatlin taking bronze in 9.79. Tyson Gay of the U.S. failed to medal despite running a 9.80.

The Jamaican duo had promised a 1-2 finish in London, and they delivered. Six of the eight runners in the final were from either the U.S. or Jamaica, highlighting the sprinting rivalry between the two nations.

But when Bolt is in top form, as he was Sunday, he has no rival. The 25-year-old came within .04 of his own world record, set in the 2009 World Championships.

"Some of you guys doubted me," Bolt told reporters. "I just had to show the world I was the greatest. It means I'm one step closer to being a legend. I have the 200 (meter dash) to go."

The U.S had more success in the women's 400 meter dash, where Sanya Richards-Ross finally won her first Olympic gold in her third Games.
