Man with Medford ties arrested in fatal shooting near Penn Station, NYPD says

A suspect whose last-known address was in Medford has been arrested in connection with the midtown Manhattan shooting earlier this week near Penn Station, the NYPD said.

Vincent Arcona, 27, was in custody at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center Thursday, a police spokesman said. Details of the arrest are still emerging.

An NYPD spokeswoman said Arcona went to the hospital on his own -- and was located there by police -- but said it remained unclear what had prompted him to go there.

Arcona was being sought in connection with a subway station shooting Monday morning near Penn Station that left one person dead and two wounded.

On Tuesday, the NYPD released a photo of Arcona and a separate, blurry photo of another suspect wearing a zipped jacket or sweatshirt and a cap.

Arcona, whose last-known address was on Race Avenue in Medford, was "being sought for a shooting" and the unidentified man was being sought "for questioning," police said Tuesday, adding that both suspects "should be considered armed and dangerous."

The shooting, suspected to be drug-related, occurred on the steps of a subway entrance at 6:14 a.m. Monday.

Investigators said they believed it happened after a verbal dispute inside a McDonald's on Eighth Avenue near 35th Street reported to be a hangout for patients from a nearby methadone clinic.
