Vito Lopez's long run in the state Assembly is expected come to a close Monday.
The Brooklyn Democrat submitted his letter of resignation over the weekend, days after an Assembly ethics committee revealed allegations made by female staffers of sexual harassment.
The Assembly began the process of expelling Lopez, who was a fixture in Albany since 1984, on Friday. Later that day, Lopez, 71, said he would resign in five weeks and run for City Council.
However he changed his mind and submitted a one-sentence letter to Assembly Leader Sheldon Silver indicating that his resignation would go into effect on Monday morning.
He didn't say whether he'd continue his plans for a City Council run.
