Wall of apartment building collapses on 8th Avenue, officials say

The front of a four-story apartment building near Union Square collapsed Monday evening, officials said, though no injuries had been immediately reported.
Debris began falling from a building at 92 8th Avenue between 14th and 15th Streets just before 6:30 p.m., according to the FDNY, which said it had more than 100 firefighters on the scene.
An FDNY spokesman said he was not yet sure the extent of the damage done to the building, or what caused the collapse.
Emergency workers were seen in live news video knocking down sections of wall that had not yet fallen, reportedly to prevent it from unexpectedly harming any pedestrians below.
