Adding to the bizarre campaign ads put out by GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain, a new video starring his chief of staff turned into a web hit Tuesday and was already being skewered on Twitter.

“We’ve run a campaign like nobody has ever seen. But then, America has never seen a candidate like Herman Cain,” Mark Block says in the ad, before taking a drag from a cigarette as the song, “I Am America,” plays in the background.

Then there’s an odd close-up of Cain cracking a smile for several seconds.

The ad was uploaded to Cain’s campaign YouTube page earlier this month, but can only be found through a direct link.

Block defended the ad on Fox News on Tuesday, saying there was “no subliminal message” between his words, the smoking and Cain’s grimace.

“I’m not the only one that smokes in America for God’s sake,” he said.
