Subway service had been restored to the 1, 2 and 3 lines in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

The MTA says commuters should expect residual delays.

Service had been suspended due to flooding at the Chambers Street subway station after a water main break in Lower Manhattan.

The Department of Environmental Protection says the 12-inch water main erupted on West Broadway, between Murray and Warren streets. It was reported shortly after 3 a.m.

The agency says two residential and commercial buildings on West Broadway are without water.

It says crews are working to determine the source of the leak to make necessary repairs.
