The city kicked off its yuletide celebrations with the start of a holiday concert series at the South Street Seaport Monday.

The city's Economic Development Corporation launched the "Water Street Pops! Winter Festival" in the neighborhood to boost businesses there that are still struggling from Superstorm Sandy.

The festival, which runs until Dec. 15, will feature musical performances, games and other free activities along Water Street.

EDC held a similar festival during the summer and its 200 events attracted 50,000 people between July 1 and Labor Day, according to the city.

The city said it hopes the winter events, which include performances by the Big Apple Circus, the All Saints Brass Band and the classical group Ghost Ensemble, will give New Yorkers a new perspective on the neighborhood and bring them back in the future.
