The former Channel 7 weather woman who allegedly lied about getting raped is trying to clear her legal storm clouds by claiming she was never read her rights.
Heidi Jones allegedly confessed to cops that she made up the story “for attention,” but her attorney said in Manhattan Criminal Court her remarks should be inadmissible because she wasn’t given her Miranda warnings.
“That is a clear-cut violation of her constitutional rights,” attorney Paul Callan said, according to the New York Post. “The DA has confirmed no Miranda warnings were given despite being interrogated by two police detectives.”
The assistant district attorney countered that Jones “was not in custody at the time her statements were made,” so she didn’t need to be read her rights.
Jones resigned from WABC over the case.
