A man who posed as a neighborhood watch volunteer and raped a disoriented 29-year-old woman was sentenced to 20 years Tuesday.
Ivan Ramos, 22, admitted in January that instead of taking the victim, who had lost her cash and phone, to the nearest police station as she asked, he led her to an isolated stairwell on Perry Street and raped her, stifling her screams with his hands.
"The defendant made his victim believe that he was helping her - but instead, he tricked her when she was vulnerable, and then attacked her," DA Vance said.
Ramos pleaded guilty to rape, two counts of criminal sexual assault, and second degree assault for the April 15, 2012, attack.
