When Tara from 'True Blood' is in NYC, this is where she hangs out
Juilliard School grad Rutina Wesley — who plays Tara Thornton on HBO’s “True Blood” — is back in New York starring in the play “The Submission” at MCC Theatre. While here, the 32-year-old actress is also co-hosting “Top 100 Number Ones” on Fuse, which runs weeknights at 9 p.m. until Aug. 26.
She shares with us her favorite spots in New York.
Favorite restaurant: “Lupa (170 Thompson St., 212-982-5089) because I love Mario Batali’s cooking and Italian is my favorite.”
Place to shop: “Chelsea Market (75 Ninth Ave.). When I go there, it means I’m getting a good dinner for the evening.”
Landmark: “Empire State Building (350 Fifth Ave.). It’s always the first thing I look for when I fly into the city.”
Favorite neighborhood: “Astoria, Queens, because it’s where me and my hubby’s [actor Jacob Fishel] first apartment was and where we fell in love.”
Hotel: “Gansevoort Park Avenue (420 Park Ave. S., 212-317-2900), because it’s nice and roomy and has great service.”
All-time favorite place: “ Yogi’s Bar, but unfortunately it’s closed now. It was our Juilliard hangout.”
