Those dreaming of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton trading places with Vice President Joe Biden shouldn’t get too excited.

A day after Bob Woodward sent Washington and political watchers into a tizzy by saying a job swap between the two is “on the table” for 2012, the White House was quick to dash the gossip Wednesday.

“It's just not true. It is not anything that is being discussed here,” White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said.

Clinton, meanwhile, also shot down the speculation.

“I have absolutely no interest and no reason for doing anything other than just dismissing these stories and moving on,” Clinton said yesterday. “I think both of us are very happy doing what we’re doing.”

Woodward, though, on Tuesday suggested President Obama may need the switch to be re-elected

“Some of Hillary Clinton’s advisers see it as a real possibility,” Woodward said on CNN’s “John King USA.”

“Obama needs some of the women, Latinos, retirees that [Clinton] did so well with during the 2008 primaries,” he said.
