White powder found on train in Penn Station deemed safe, say officials
NYPD officials were have determined a white powdery substance found on a New Jersey Transit train Monday evening at Penn Station was not dangerous, officials said.
Authorities were called to Penn Station shortly after 5 p.m., officials said.
The substance was spotted on a New Jersey Transit train and a New Jersey Transit crew member alerted authorities to the powder on a train slated to leave Penn Station, spokeswoman Nancy Snyder. New Jersey Transit continued to run trains in the meantime, she said.
The powder was found about 5:10 p.m.
