Williamsburg woman dies in smoking related blaze

A 78-year-old woman died in a "smoking-related" fire Saturday night inside her Williamsburg apartment, the FDNY said.
Nelly Bermudez, 78, died in her 12th-floor apartment in the Taylor-Wythe Houses on Ross Street, according to DNAInfo.com. An FDNY spokesman said an investigation into the fire is ongoing.
About 60 firefighters were called on to put out the blaze.
Bermudez suffered severe burns and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other apartments in the high-rise were damaged in the fire.
