Police say a woman was killed after she fainted on a subway platform and fell in front of a train on the city’s Upper East Side.

The New York Daily News reports that the woman passed out while on a platform at Lexington Avenue and East 77th Street Wednesday afternoon. Police say she rolled onto the tracks just as a train came into the station at about 3:10 p.m.

The woman was described as being in her 20s. She died at the scene.

Transit officials said train service was shut down for several hours.
