A woman was fighting for her life Tuesday after being hit by a subway during rush hour, officials said.

The unidentified woman was hit just after 7:30 a.m. at the 137th Street No. 1 station, according to MTA and emergency officials. An MTA spokesman said the downtown train "knocked her back onto the platform," and said police were investigating how she ended up getting in the train's way. An NYPD spokeswoman said police didn't believe there was any criminality involved in the incedent.

The woman was rushed to St. Luke's-Roosevelt hospital in "serious" condition, police and FDNY officials said. She is expected to survive.
