Woman found dead after Staten Island house fire
Police and fire officials are investigating a Saturday blaze in a Staten Island home where a 61-year-old woman was found dead.
The woman's body was discovered after firefighters extinguished the flames at a two-story house on Hawthorne Avenue in Willowbrook at 6:21 p.m.
There were 60 firefighters on the scene, an FDNY spokesman said. The woman was not identified.
The spokesman said the cause of the fire is under investigation. A medical examiner will establish the victim's cause of death.
