Yonkers man fatally stabbed outside Manhattan pub
A young man was stabbed to death at a pub party in Manhattan's Theater District early Saturday morning, police said.
Shortly after 3 a.m., the staff at the Playwright Tavern, an Irish pub at 202 West 49th St. between 7th and 8th avenues, cleared out the pub when a dispute broke out inside, New York City police said. The fight continued outside on the street and a 25-year-old man from Yonkers was fatally stabbed twice in the chest, police said. The assailant fled the scene.
The victim, whose name had not been released Saturday afternoon because his family had not yet been notified, was taken in an ambulance to Bellevue Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A woman answering the phone at the bar said the manager on duty at the time of the stabbing was not there and she couldn't provide any information.
