A 22-year-old woman was fatally run over by a city bus at a dangerous Queens intersection Wednesday.

The victim, identified by the NYPD Wednesday afternoon as Meilan Jin, 22, of Flushing, was struck by an out of service Q44 bus around 8 a.m., witnesses told police. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The unidentified driver, who cops said made a wide right turn onto westbound Northern Blvd., was being questioned by police but was not charged by press time.

According to crashstat.org, Northern Boulevard and Union Street is one of the five most dangerous intersections in the city for senior pedestrians and bicyclists.

A spokeswoman in the New York City Department of Transportation said the last fatality was in 2008 and that injuries have decreased 22% since improvements to the intersection were made in the summer of 2010. Safety improvements included the addition of pedestrian countdown signals and a reduction of the pedestrian crossing distance, she said.
