NFL Week 10 Gridiron Guide and Fantasy Take
GIANTS (6-2) at 49ERS (7-1), 4:15 p.m.
49ers by 3 1/2; O/U: 42 1/2TV: Ch. 5. Radio: WFAN (660).
Did you catch the footage of the Giants' postgame celebration in New England? Tom Coughlin can smile. Who knew? The 49ers are 7-0-1 against the spread (ATS), but the Giants are 14-6 ATS in their last 20 games as a road underdog, and 30-13 ATS in their last 43 road games. THE PICK: Giants
RONIS' FANTASY TAKE: Giants RB Brandon Jacobs will have a tough time against one of the best front seven's in the NFL.
PATRIOTS (5-3) at JETS (5-3), 8:20 p.m.
Jets by 1 1/2; O/U: 47 1/2TV: Ch. 4. Radio: ESPN (1050).
The Jets looked like they ordered a time machine and went back to their successful style of football. It was the most complete effort I've seen from the Jets. Can Rex Ryan & Co. follow it up against a Patriots team looking to avoid its first three-game losing streak since 2002? THE PICK: Patriots
RONIS' FANTASY TAKE: Jets WR Santonio Holmes should be getting more targets and he's had some quiet weeks, but he's too good to sit against the worst-ranked pass defense.
1 P.M. GAMES
STEELERS (6-3) at BENGALS (6-2)
Steelers by 3; O/U: 41 1/2Are the Bengals (7-1 ATS) for real? They'll get a chance to show it against the Steelers, who look to rebound from a last-second loss to the Ravens. Pittsburgh is one of the best bounce-back teams in the league with a record of 6-0 ATS in their last six games following a loss. Close one. THE PICK: Steelers
FANTASY: The Bengals defense has been excellent, but don't be afraid to start Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and WR Antonio Brown (21 receptions the last three games).
SAINTS (6-3) at FALCONS (5-3)
Pick 'em; O/U: 50
The Saints might be the biggest Jekyll & Hyde team in the NFL, going 2-3 ATS in their last five games. Atlanta has won -- and covered -- three straight. THE PICK: Falcons
FANTASY: If Falcons WR Julius Jones (hamstring injury) plays, he's a good start after last week's two-TD game.
BILLS (5-3) at COWBOYS (4-4)
Cowboys by 5.5; O/U: 47.5
TV: Ch. 2.
Remember when these two met in the Super Bowl on a regular basis? Dallas is 2-10-1 ATS in last 13 as a favorite, while Buffalo is 6-2-1 ATS in its last 9 games as a road underdog.
THE PICK: Bills
FANTASY: Continue to roll with Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray. He has averaged 8.4 yards per carry the last three games.
BRONCOS (3-5) at CHIEFS (4-4)
Chiefs by 3; O/U: 41.5
The Broncos are 2-1 under Tim Tebow, who gets talked about more than possibly any QB in history. The Chiefs (5-1 ATS last six games) look to rebound from last week's hiccup against Miami. THE PICK: Chiefs
FANTASY: Broncos QB Tim Tebow is ranked third in scoring at QB for the last three weeks despite not eclipsing 200 yards passing. Start him.
REDSKINS (3-5) at DOLPHINS (1-7)
Dolphins by 4; O/U: 37.5
Glad Miami and coach Tony Sparano finally notched their first 'W'. The Redskins have lost and not covered four straight times. Take the points. THE PICK: Redskins
FANTASY: For now, Redskins RB Roy Helu is the main running back. He had 17 targets last week and caught 14 passes.
RAMS (1-7) at BROWNS (3-5)
Browns by 2.5; O/U: 37
Eleven of the 16 games in Week 10 have spreads of 3 1/2 points or fewer. Stay away from St. Louis (1-7 ATS) and Cleveland (1-5-2). Flip a coin. THE PICK: Rams
FANTASY: Browns WR Josh Cribbs is getting more involved in the offense and is a solid play in deeper leagues.
CARDINALS (2-6) at EAGLES (3-5)
OFF (Arizona QB, questionable); O/U: OFF
TV: Ch. 5.
I don't care if former Eagles QB Kevin Kolb (turf toe) or John Skelton plays for the Cards this weekend. Philly can't afford to lose anymore. To go 10-6, they have to finish 7-1. THE PICK: Eagles
FANTASY: Cardinals RB Beanie Wells isn't moving well laterally because of his knee injury. He's a risky play.
TITANS (4-4) at PANTHERS (2-6)
Panthers by 3.5; O/U: 46
Carolina is 5-3 ATS so far, including 4-1 ATS at home. But the Panthers suspect run defense (No. 27 overall with 133.2 yards allowed per game) could be just what Chris Johnson and Co. need to get going on the ground. THE PICK: Titans
FANTASY: Johnson was better last week, and Carolina has allowed 11 rushing TDs this season.
TEXANS (6-3) at BUCS (4-4)
Texans by 3.5; O/U: 45.5
The Texans' two-headed rushing attack of Arian Foster and Ben Tate (each with more than 600 yards and 100 carries) will be too much for the Bucs. THE PICK: Texans
FANTASY: It's not out of the question to use Tate as a flex play. The Bucs rank 26th against the run and have allowed 4.9 yards per carry.
JAGUARS (2-6) at COLTS (0-9)
Jaguars by 3; O/U: 37.5
Without or with Peyton Manning, the Jags have an uncanny knack of playing the Colts tough and close. Jacksonville is 5-2 ATS in its last seven games in Indy. THE PICK: Jaguars
FANTASY: Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew has run very well, and he'll get a lot of carries against the Colts, who rank 31st against the run.
4 P.M. GAMES & LATER
LIONS (6-2) at BEARS (5-3), 4:15 p.m.
Lions by 2.5; O/U: 45.5
Bears were good in Monday's road win in Philly, and kept QB Jay Cutler from being sacked the entire night for the first time in 30 games. Good thing, because he'll be on the floor against the Lions' pass rush. Detroit is 7-3 ATS in last 10 vs. Bears. THE PICK: Lions
FANTASY: Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew has a good matchup against a Bears offense that struggles to defend the tight end.
RAVENS (6-2) at SEAHAWKS (2-6), 4:05 p.m.
Ravens by 6.5; O/U: 41
Baltimore is 4-11 ATS in its last 15 games as a road favorite with a spread between 31/2-to-10 points. Seattle is 7-2 ATS in its last 9 games as a home underdog with same spread. Worth a shot.
THE PICK: Seahawks
FANTASY: Ravens WR Torrey Smith is becoming more involved in the offense. He has nine targets in each of the last two games and is a deep threat.
VIKINGS (2-6) at PACKERS (8-0), 8:30 p.m. Monday
Packers by 13.5; O/U: 51
TV: ESPN. Radio: WFAN (660).
If the Vikings continue their solid running game (which keeps Aaron Rogers and Co. on the sideline for long stretches) they can keep this one close enough. THE PICK: Vikings
FANTASY: Vikings WR Percy Harvin has played limited snaps all season, but is a good play with QB Christian Ponder providing life for the offense.
