NFL Week 11 Gridiron Guide and Fantasy Take
EAGLES (3-6) at GIANTS (6-3), 8:20 p.m.
TV: Ch. 4. Radio: WFAN (660).
Giants by 4; O/U: 46.5
The Giants showed me a lot in San Fran last week. They played a solid Niners club (and an outstanding defense) toe-to-toe without starting RB Ahmad Bradshaw. The G-Men now have the chance to go 2-1 in their difficult six-game stretch, and exorcise a demon in the form of the Eagles and DeSean Jackson. That is, if Jackson can wake up for team meetings. It'll be Philly's funeral.
THE PICK:Giants
FANTASY: Be prepared to be without Eagles QB Michael Vick and WR Jeremy Maclin. Have alternatives since this is the night game Sunday and waiting is risky.
1 P.M. GAMES
BUCS (4-5) at PACKERS (9-0)
Packers by 14; O/U: 48.5
The whispers are starting to get a bit louder: Can anyone beat the Packers? To me, it's more like: Can anyone stop Aaron Rodgers? The line opened at 11 1/2 and climbed to 14. The Bucs are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 meetings vs. The Pack, and 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 road games. But I'm riding the train known as the Packers until it gets derailed, which may not happen for a while.
THE PICK: Packers
FANTASY: When the Buccaneers are trailing, RB LeGarrette Blount doesn't play as many snaps. He has played less than 50 percent of snaps the last three games. That should be the case this week. As always, start your Packers.
RAIDERS (5-4) at VIKINGS (2-7)
Raiders by 1; O/U: 45.5
I know the Raiders don't always travel well, blah-blah-blah, but the Silver & Black needs to keep its advantage in the AFC West. Vikings are 4-11-1 ATS in their last 16 games as an underdog.
THE PICK: Raiders
FANTASY: Raiders QB Carson Palmer is throwing the ball very well and is Top 10 this week. Start Raiders RB Michael Bush and WR Denarius Moore.
PANTHERS (2-7) at LIONS (6-3)
Lions by 7; O/U: 47.5
The Lions, formerly an ATS darling, have fallen on tough times and has lost (and not covered) three of their last four games. The Panthers might be the perfect remedy for the Lions: Carolina has lost 11 straight road games, the NFL's longest active streak.
THE PICK: Lions
FANTASY: Expect bounce back games from Panthers QB Cam Newton and Lions QB Matthew Stafford.
COWBOYS (5-4) at REDSKINS (3-6)
TV: Ch. 5. Radio: WBBR (1130).
Cowboys by 7.5; O/U: 41.5
The 'Boys looked scary good against the Bills last week -- Tony Romo threw just three incompletions in 26 attempts. Dallas has a running game, and a solid defense. The 'Skins are decimated by injuries and haven't covered in fivestraight games. Dallas is 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games in Landover, Md.THE PICK: Cowboys
FANTASY: Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray is a Top 10 play and WR Laurent Robinson has four TDs the last three games so continue to use him.
JAGUARS (3-6) at BROWNS (3-6)
Browns by 1; O/U: 34.5
Congrats to Tim the Jets fan from Port Jeff, who outpicked me in last week's games. Well done, sir! The Browns are a putrid 1-8-2 ATS in their last 11 home games.
THE PICK: Jaguars
FANTASY: Both defenses are good options if you like to stream each week at the position. Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew is the only must start.
BENGALS (6-3) at RAVENS (6-3)
Radio: WFAN (660).
Ravens by 7; O/U: 40.5
The Ravens have been consistently inconsistent. The Bengals' loss vs. the Steelers last week snapped a nine-game cover streak vs. the AFC. Start a new streak, Cincy!
THE PICK: Bengals
FANTASY: Bengals WR A.J. Green is a game-time decision so have a backup plan.
BILLS (5-4) at DOLPHINS (2-7)
TV: Ch. 2.
Dolphins by 2; O/U: 43
OK, I get that the Bills have lost and not covered two straight games. But this line is a head-scratcher. Maybe because Buffalo is 3-7 ATS in its last 10 vs. AFC East foes. But the Bills are 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 vs. the Fins.
THE PICK: Bills
FANTASY: QB Matt Moore is a sleeper if you have a starter on bye. RB Reggie Bush is a good play with three TDs the last two weeks.
4 P.M. GAMES & LATER
CARDINALS (3-6) at 49ERS (8-1), 4:05 p.m.
49ers by 9.5; O/U: 40.5
Niners coach Jim Harbaugh doesn't like that his QB Alex Smith has been labeled a "game manager" ala Trent Dilfer. Just call Smith and the Niners "winners." San Fran leads the NFL with a plus-13 turnover margin.
THE PICK: 49ers
FANTASY: Niners RB Frank Gore said yesterdayhe will play. His workload could be limited, so RB Kendall Hunter could still be a solid flex play. It's a tough matchup for Cardinals RB Beanie Wells considering the 49ers have not allowed a rushing TD.
CHARGERS (4-5) at BEARS (6-3), 4:15 p.m.
TV: Ch. 2.
Bears by 3.5; O/U: 45
Remember back in 2007 when current Bears QB Jay Cutler was with Denver and got into an on-the-field jawing match with Chargers QB Philip Rivers? Cutler and the Bears have had the better of it recently, while Rivers has already thrown 15 INTs which ties his season-high. He's gotta be hurt. The Bolts have lost four straight, while the Bears have won four in a row. I'm going against the grain here.
THE PICK: Chargers
FANTASY: If you need a WR, add the Chargers' Vincent Brown and play him. He had 79 yards receiving two weeks ago and 97 yards with a TD last week.
TITANS (5-4) at FALCONS (5-4), 4:15 p.m.
Falcons by 6; O/U: 44
They'll be talking about Falcons coach Mike Smith's fourth-down, overtime decision in Atlanta for a long time (I said at the time they should have punted). The Titans are 6-13 ATS vs. teams with a winning record, while Atlanta is 18-5 ATS in its last 23 games following a loss.
THE PICK: Falcons
FANTASY: Titans WR Damian Williams has four TDs in the last six games.
SEAHAWKS (3-6) at RAMS (2-7), 4:05 p.m.
Rams by 2; O/U: 39
Seattle is 5-1-1 ATS in its last seven games overall, and 7-1 ATS in its last eight games vs. the Rams. Works for me.
THE PICK: Seahawks
FANTASY: Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch has scored in five consecutive games and has a good matchup despite two of the team's offensive linemen being out for the season. Rams WR Brandon Lloyd is a must start.
CHIEFS (4-5) at PATRIOTS (6-3), 8:30 p.m. Monday
Patriots by 15; O/U: 46.5
TV: ESPN. Radio: WBBR (1130).
Chiefs QB Matt Cassel, who was with the Pats in 2008 and took over for Tom Brady when he was injured that season, will miss this game after surgery on his throwing hand. Enter Tyler Palko, who will make his first NFL start. The Pittsburgh producthas thrown for 82 yards in four career games with no TDs. Good luck, son.
THE PICK: Patriots
FANTASY: This should be the week Patriots RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis grinds out the clock in a lopsided game. The Chiefs will start Palko at QB in his first NFL start. Chiefs RB Dexter McCluster is a deep sleeper for PPR leagues as a checkdown back. He caught six passes for 48 yards last week.
