Nissequogue trustees running unopposed

Two Village of Nissequogue trustees will run unopposed for new terms next month.

Incumbents Robert P. Clemente and James F. Donahue were the only candidates to submit petitions to run for their offices. The filing deadline was May 15.

Voting will be held on June 19 from noon to 9 p.m. at Nissequogue Village Hall, 631 Moriches Rd., St. James.

Clemente, who is also deputy mayor, and Donahue are running for two-year terms. Trustees are not paid.

One of Long Island’s smallest villages, Nissequogue occupies a 3.6-square-mile section in the Town of Smithtown. It has 1,700 residents and a budget of $1.77 million for the 2012-13 fiscal year, which begins June 1.

Village Justice Joel Ziegler also is running unopposed for a four-year term. Ziegler, one of two villages justices, also is unpaid.
