No. 2 Miami's unbeaten start to Atlantic Coast Conference play is history. So is its 14-game winning streak and its highest-ever national ranking, after the Hurricanes were knocked off by Wake Forest, 80-65, yesterday in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Durand Scott had all 17 of his points in the second half for Miami (22-4, 13-1), the last of the schools in the six BCS conferences to get its first league loss, and Shane Larkin added 13. Miami never got closer than 11 in the final nine minutes. C.J. Harris finished with 23 points and hit all five of his three-pointers for Wake Forest (12-14, 5-9).

Georgetown 57, Syracuse 46: Otto Porter scored a career-high 33 points as No. 11 Georgetown beat host No. 8 Syracuse. He helped end the Orange's 38-game winning streak in the Carrier Dome in front of a disappointed crowd of 35,012, the largest ever to see a college basketball game on campus, in part to celebrate the jersey retirement of former Syracuse star Carmelo Anthony at halftime.

It was the final game between Georgetown (21-4, 11-3 Big East) and Syracuse (22-5, 10-4) in the Carrier Dome as members of the conference, as the Orange are leaving to join the ACC.

Gonzaga 81, San Diego 50: Kevin Pangos scored 18 points for host No. 3 Gonzaga (27-2, 14-0 West Coast Conference), which is in position to rise to second in The Associated Press poll after No. 2 Miami lost. Chris Manresa scored 19 points to lead San Diego (13-16, 6-8).

Florida 71, Arkansas 54: Mike Rosario scored 15 points and Patric Young added 14 for host No. 5 Florida (22-4, 12-2 Southeastern Conference), which lost to Arkansas (17-10, 8-6) in Fayetteville earlier in the season.

Kansas 74, TCU 48: Jeff Withey scored 18 points as host No. 9 Kansas (23-4, 11-3 Big 12) routed TCU (10-17, 1-13) to avenge a stunning loss to the Horned Frogs two weeks ago.

Louisville 79, Seton Hall 61: Gorgui Dieng scored a career-high 23 points and shot 10-for-11 to lead host No. 10 Louisville. Russ Smith added 19 points for the Cardinals (22-5, 10-4 Big East). Aaron Cosby scored 17 to lead Seton Hall (13-15, 2-13), which dropped its ninth straight.

Arizona 73, Washington St. 56: Kevin Parrom had 19 points to lead host No. 12 Arizona (23-4, 11-4 Pac-12). Washington State is 11-17, 2-13.

Kansas State 81, Texas 69: Rodney McGruder scored 20 points for visiting No. 13 Kansas State (22-5, 11-3 Big 12). Texas is 12-15, 4-10.

Oklahoma State 73, West Virginia 57: Le'Bryan Nash and Markel Brown each scored 16 points to lead visiting No. 14 Oklahoma State (20-6, 10-4 Big 12). WVU is 13-14, 6-8.

New Mexico 91, Colorado State 82: Kendall Williams sank a Mountain West Conference- record 10 three-pointers on his way to a career-high 46 points as No. 16 New Mexico (23-4, 10-2) ended the 27-game home-court winning streak of No. 22 Colorado State (21-5, 8-4).

Villanova 60, Marquette 56: Darrun Hilliard scored 22 points to lead host Villanova (18-10, 9-6 Big East) over No. 17 Marquette (19-7, 10-4). It was the Wildcats' third win over a Top 25 conference opponent. They also beat Louisville and Syracuse to help bolster their bid to earn an NCAA Tournament bid.
