The villages of Babylon and Lindenhurst were spared major flooding issues, officials there said, as plowing efforts continued into the night.

In Babylon, Mayor Mary Adams said the village did not experience any flooding. She praised the “true dedication” of the more than 20 employees who have been out clearing the roads. She said in a text that they would continue overnight, “taking rest periods in their cars within our highway department.”

Lindenhurst Mayor Mike Lavorata said his village did not experience any “serious flooding.” He said department of public works employees will remain out all night, plowing in shifts so that workers can get some rest. “It’s the biggest storm in my 42 years of living here,” Lavorata said in a text.
