No vote tonight, but Avalon Bay the likely focus
Heavy turnout is expected of people on both sides of the proposed Avalon Bay development in Huntington Station at Tuesday's 7 p.m. town board meeting.
There is no vote on the project on the agenda, but residents pro and con are expected to address the board in the open comment session in advance of what is scheduled to be the decisive vote on the project on Sept. 21.
Avalon Bay is proposing a 490-unit development within walking distance of the train station.
Proponents praise its smart growth principals; opponents worry about traffic and overcrowding of the local school district.
Before the meeting, supporters of the project will rally on the steps of town hall.
