Weather service: Next tide cycles could rival this morning's coastal flooding
National Weather Service meteorologist Jay Engle said forecasters believe Saturday morning's high tide may be the peak of coastal flooding, but added that high tides tonight and tomorrow could cause similar impacts.
"We can't rule out that the next couple of tide cycles could rival what happened this morning," Engle said. Areas in southwest Suffolk County and southern Nassau County are likeliest to see moderate flooding, he added.
Most of Long Island experienced a lull from scattered rainfall in the early afternoon. Still, showers are likely to be "on and off" throughout most of the weekend, Engle said.
