PSEG deployed 850 workers across Long Island
About 23,000 customers were without power as of 9 a.m. Sunday, according to PSEG. Power had been restored to more than 82,000 households who had lost power since Friday morning. Suffolk County experienced more outages than Nassau.
The utility said heavy winds had downed hundreds of trees and large branches, knocking out electrical poles and wires. It said more than 850 PSEG line workers, tree trimmers and others had been deployed to help restore power.
Residents were reminded to steer clear of downed electrical wires and flooded areas, in case there are submerged wires.
Crews are working 16-hour shifts and will continue until all outages are restored, the utility said. More than 700 trees and 440 large branches took down utility poles and electric wires, the utility said.
