North Hempstead will offer town residents two free financial literacy seminars in April, promising a conversation about such topics as student-loan borrowing strategies and pitfalls and how to live within one’s means.

Charles Berman, the town’s receiver of taxes, said the seminar, titled “Financial Literacy for Kids and their Families,” is aimed at the town’s younger residents. He said in a statement the seminar would provide children basic skills needed to help “lay the foundation for a healthy financial future.”

“It also provides kids with basic money management skills they will need as they approach young adulthood,” he added.

The first seminar is in New Hyde Park from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. April 9 at the Hillside Public Library, 155 Lakeville Rd.

The second is 7 to 8:30 p.m. April 11 at the Westbury Public Library, 445 Jefferson Rd.
