A meeting scheduled for Wednesday on a proposal by T-Mobile for a cell tower at the Britannia Yachting Center in Northport has been cancelled.

The Northport Zoning Board had been scheduled to consider T-Mobile’s application for a 60-foot pole at the Fort Salonga Road site Wednesday.

The proposal was for a nautical-style pole, complete with yardarm. The antennas would be concealed inside the pole and would address what T-Mobile has said is a “substantial gap in coverage” in the area.

In a statement Tuesday, T-Mobile said it “was granted a routine adjournment of the hearing in order to respond to some questions and options the board wanted us to consider.”

T-Mobile representatives and neighbors of the proposed site addressed the zoning board in February.

About a dozen residents expressed concern over the tower’s potential effects on safety and property values.
