The Northport-East Northport school board finalized a $153.9 million budget for the 2012-2013 school year at its special meeting Monday night.

The completed budget proposal of $153,941,712 represents a 1.83 percent increase over the current budget of $151,178,758. Under the proposal, the tax levy would increase by 1.68 percent.

No programs would be cut, but several positions would be cut through attrition.

The board also voted to place a proposition on the ballot that would allow the district to spend $845,000 from its capital-reserve funds on two boilers and related equipment at the Bellerose Avenue Elementary School and ventilation equipment at East Northport Middle School and Northport Middle School.

Voters will decide on the budget and proposition on May 15.
