The Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center will host a walkathon this weekend to raise money for homeless veterans.

The Steps for Homeless Vets event will take start at 9 a.m. Saturday on the medical center’s golf course (79 Middleville Rd., Northport). The three-hour event is sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans of America chapters in Nassau and Suffolk counties.

Each walker is asked to contribute $20, and families are asked to contribute $25. Organizers said the money will go to help local homeless veterans.
