Giants lose Owen's coaching finale

The Giants lost to Detroit, 27-16, at the Polo Grounds in what was Giants coach Steve Owen's last game. The Giants finished the season 3-9. Owen had a 153-100-17 record in his 23-year career, which included eight divisional crowns and two NFL titles. Owen, who was a defensive standout for the Giants from 1926-31, stayed with the organization for one more year as a scout. He was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1966.
