Nets beat Pipers to end losing streak
Walt Simon scored 25 points as the New York Nets snapped a six-game losing streak with a 113-111 victory over the Minnesota Pipers. Only 1,323 fans were on hand for the American Basketball Association game at Long Island Arena in Commack. It was the first season on Long Island for the Nets, who had played as the New Jersey Americans in the ABA's initial two seasons. The team stumbled to a 17-61 record in 1968-69 under coach Max Zaslofsky.
