St. John's loses in NIT final

Senior Billy Paultz had 15 points and 17 rebounds as St. John's lost to Marquette, 65-53, in the 1970 NIT title game. St. John's coach Lou Carnesecca left his alma mater, and went to the New York Nets for three seasons before returning to St. John's in 1973. Marquette was led by coach Al McGuire, who played at St. John's from 1948-51.
