Oakdale Chamber holding Firecracker 5K

The Oakdale Chamber of Commerce will kick off Fourth of July weekend with its 3rd annual Firecracker 5K race/walk Saturday at Dowling College’s Curtin Center. This year’s race, which starts at 9 a.m., will benefit the formation of the Oakdale Historic Society.

The course will go through the historic Idle Hour community of Oakdale. Participants can preregister at www.islandrunning.net for $20, or sign up on the day of the event for $25.

On-site registration starts at 7 a.m. for the race, which will take place rain or shine.
