In response to President Barack Obama's decision not to release photos of Osama bin Laden's body, there is an expression, do not throw gasoline onto the fire. This applies here. President Obama said it best: We do not need to spike the football and "trot out this stuff as trophies." Americans should take heart in the wisdom of this statement.

Are Americans, like al-Qaida and other terrorists, barbarians who need to relish gruesome pictures to sensationalize a death? Or are we a mature, evolved culture defined by character?

The Republicans seem reluctant to give Obama the credit he deserves. The president deserves praise for understanding what America is really about, the high road. Not parading someone's head around on a pole.
