Observations from Day 1 of camp
- Ben Sauls converted 4 of 5 field goals. Dominic Zvada was 3 for 5. Both converted from 48 and 51 yards. The kicker competition will be one of the key battles to watch. A reminder. Sauls was signed at the end of last year and Zvada is a rookie. Not a lot of experience but the pressure is on to produce.
- Rookie WR Malachi Fields made a leaping catch on a pass from Jameis Winston. It reminded that his catch radius is wide and he has the potential to catch a lot thrown his way.
- The best play of the day goes to WR Braxton Berrios. He caught a long touchdown pass from Winston that had the offense going wild from behind the huddle before mobbing Berrios in the end zone.
- New LB Tremaine Edmunds tipped a pass from Jaxson Dart that was nearly intercepted but rookie LB Arvell Reese and safety Ar'Darius Washington collided. It reminded that Edmunds and Reese are both long, lanky defenders covering the middle of the field.
