Aeroplane Pageant's Brian Kelly says he's taken inspiration from the protesters at Occupy Wall Street. Soon, he and the rest of the Wantagh-based band may be offering some inspiration to the protesters in return.

"It's been a long time since young people have a voice and expressed it," Kelly says. "I support the idea of dialogue and establishing communication as long as it remains peaceful."

Kelly says the band's song "Big Little Wolfs," which he says "reflects some of the sentiments of the Occupy Wall Street movement," will be remixed and included on the upcoming "Occupy Wall Street" compilation, which will be a fundraiser for the movement. Aeroplane Pageant will join artists ranging from David Crosby, Graham Nash and Jackson Browne to Lucinda Williams and Devo on the compilation, which may also grow into a package tour this spring.

"What's cool about this collection is the wide variety of musical aesthetics," says Kelly, adding that the band would love to tour with others on the compilation. "It shows how everybody is coming together."

Following Aeroplane Pageant's gorgeous video for "Cities as a Dream," which Kelly directed, the band will soon start scoring a short film, while also working on a new EP of remixes of songs from their 2011 album "Float Above the Yard" (Stormy Ice) that should be released in June. (One of the remixes will come from the band's friend, author-musician Rick Moody, who will tackle "Big Little Wolfs.")

"It's a different kind of experience," Kelly says. "But we like to be challenged."

Aeroplane Pageant plays Glasslands Gallery, 289 Kent Ave., Brooklyn, at 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 through glasslands.blogspot.com.
