Oceanside fashion designer Silvia Allegrini was in Italy five years ago when a mini-crisis struck: Her clothes did not arrive with her. "It was a nightmare," Allegrini said. "I had to go find stores. I wound up spending a lot of money."

Out of that mishap The Chick on the Go was born.

It's Allegrini's online company, thechickonthego.com, which on Valentine's Day is to launch a product designed to help businesswomen avoid a similar clothesless fate while on the road.

Allegrini has designed a versatile wardrobe with just five pieces of clothing that can be combined to create 25 outfits. The pieces all fit into a kit, which weighs less than 4 pounds.

The kit, which retails for $199, includes black wide-leg pants; a black slip dress, a long white-sleeved shirt, a white tank top, and a black poncho that can be worn as a skirt and a shirt. The garments are made of rayon and spandex and have no buttons or zippers. Two accessories -- black and white sashes that can be worn as a belt, scarf or headband -- are also included.

"You can place [the kit] into a tote bag or your office drawer," said Allegrini. She plans to sell the kit through her website, and a major marketing campaign leading up to Valentine's Day is planned.

"I wanted to come up with a wardrobe every woman could wear," she said.
